Well, this is my very first blog post.
I have quite literally no idea what I’m doing, so either bear with me.. or don’t.
A little bit about me: I am a wife and mom to three little kids. My husband and I have been together for nearly 13 years. Fun fact: we met back in the good ol' Myspace days.
In the early years of our relationship, we were super good about budgeting and not having any debt, etc. If we wanted something, we saved for it. We never bought something if we didn’t immediately have the money available. Somewhere along the way, that all went down the drain.. and we got suddenly super terrible with money… I blame the kids.. kidding.. maybe.
Anyways, December of 2019, after our car broke down for the 10 zillionth time, and I cried a lot of tear because we couldn’t afford anymore fixes on the damn thing, we finally got rid of it. We bought something new and then one day I was looking at all of our bills. I realized that every month, we’re literally paying $800+ a month on just debt payments. That is literally ridiculous, and I couldn’t help thinking “how different could life be if we actually got to KEEP that money each month. What things could we be doing if we had that money?” I found The Budget Mom on Instagram and literally fell down the budgeting black hole. I was literally so excited, so hopeful. Eating up all the information that I could, I took notes and planned and checked out other people’s debt payoffs.
I got my husband on board (hard to not be when someone won’t shut up about it.
), and set out to start our budgeting plan. 2020 IS going to be our year, we plan to pay off what we can, and I basically decided yesterday that I was going to blog about it. I’m sure no one will ever see this, but I think that it will be fun to look back upon, come December.
So with my budget written out, here goes nothing!
